About us

OrangeGames is a young (online) gaming company with a lot of ambition. We operate on the international market and we are expanding rapidly. Currently we operate several successful Casual portals and Apps such as: Spele.nl, Zigiz.com, Funnygames.nl, Gembly.com, Governor of Poker (iOS + Android) and Stratego (iOS + Android).

All our products are online or have multiplayer capabilities and heavily rely on our server infrastructure. We are looking for someone to expand our team with a:

  • DevOps Engineer
  • 40 hours/week
  • Amsterdam

About the job

On birthday parties you will tell people you are like a Chef, writing recipes, making sure the kitchen runs smoothly and doing the needed cleaning.

What you will be doing in reality:

  • Write recipes in Chef for our deployments
  • You make sure all our instances at Amazon (AWS) run without a whisper
  • Your work and effort make sure our releases and deployments can be done by anyone on the team
  • You are the safeguard on security topics and spread this knowledge in your team

How you will be doing this:

  • You are part of an Agile, multidisciplinary team. Together you work on towards the sprint goals.
  • You create the priorities together with the team and the Product Owner and together you make an effort in balancing business value and technical values.
  • For our deployments you will be using Chef and Teamcity
  • You work pro-actively and don`t only take work that is assigned to you but  also come up with ideas to improve.

What we did in the last months:

  • We did a migration from a dedicated hosting provider towards AWS for our multiplayer poker game: Governor of Poker 3
  • We created a cluster of node.js instances to improve the performance of our multiplayer games for Gembly

Who you’ll be working with:

  • Product Owner
  • Scrum master
  • Agile tester
  • Other developers (front-end, game, back-end)
  • Other DevOps Engineers

What we ask from you

  • Minimum of a Bachelor/Master Degree in IT or any relevant discipline
  • 2 to 4 years full time experience as DevOps Engineer in an online technical environment
  • Knowledge of multiple (programming) languages among which are Ruby, Bash,  PHP and SQL
  • You worked with some continuous integration tools like;  Jenkins, Teamcity
  • You have experience with some configuration management tools like; Puppet, Chef
  • You have a healthy pragmatic attitude, “being smart, getting things done”
  • Sound knowledge and experience with: Apache, MySQL, REST, GIT and Linux servers
  • Experience working in an Agile environment would be nice
  • You like an informal but professional atmosphere

Moving to the Netherlands?

You are not the first: OrangeGames employs from all over the world, including France, Poland, and Turkey. This means the working language at OrangeGames is English.

We will help you with

Relocation: you will receive a relocation fee to cover for the costs of moving to Amsterdam

Paperwork: any bureaucracy related to your work permit, and help with registering for a bank account and a social security number

The language: Amsterdam is an international city with a large expat community, and if you speak English you will be to participate in daily life without any problems.
